treatment is an extremely important aspect of gear production. For
this reason, GRAZIANO Trasmissioni founded I.T.T. srl, Industria Trattamenti
Termici (Industrial Heat Treatment srl) in 1977. GRAZIANO Trasmissioni
uses this plant to carry out the heat treatment operations both for
the needs of its Italian Plants and for third-party customers. Its
highly reliable modern machines, which are technologically advanced,
offer a variety of treatment processes. |

Raw
components :
Hardening and tempering in oil, isothermical annealing
and normalizing of raw material are carried out by continuous furnaces.
The small dimension of the basket system guarantees constant high quality
and the achievement of the functional and metallurgical features required,
with certainty and repeatability.
Daily production: 120 tons.
Carburizing
is carried out by furnaces with single or double chambers and by continuous
furnaces. Hardening to control deformations in components with a diameter
of 650 mm can be carried out also by pin or by Gleason quenching press.
Atmosphere regulation obtained with anologes, azote & methanol and air-methane
is carried out by oxygen and lambda probes and by CO/CO2 analizers. The
automation system and the microprocessor regulation unit allow the carburizing
process to be kept constantly under control.
Daily production: 40 tons.
Heess
automatic presses with Aichelin furnaces allow hardening to minimize deformation
of the synchronizer components.

Induction
- Hardening
ITT is equipped with
-
systems with 2 stations for induction-hardening of the body rings, max
diameter of 600 mm..
The installed power is from 250 to 600 kW and the frequencies from 4Khz
to 8Khz
- systems for induction-hardening of the shafts, with lengths up to 2000
mm. The installed power is 250 kW and frequencies from 4 to 20 Khz.
These systems are equipped with power transistor converters which allow
the frequency of the currents used to heat the components, to change,
and with computerized units to check the energy used for the components
during the heating.
Shot
peening
The shot peening system is equipped with a turbine
and an 8-station rotating table for shafts & gears, 6 bar pneumatic system
and a 4-station rotating table for pinions.
Trimming
The process used is the hot-trimming method. The
tool is a mixture of oxygen and methane; it is suitable for any kind of
component, removing all the burrs in internal cavities .
Laboratory
ITT is equipped with a metallurgical laboratory
in which it is possible to carry out the following:
- Analysis of steel by means of mass spectometer
- Testing of hardness and micro-hardness
- Structural analyses
- Micro and macrographies
- Inclusion rate defining
- Jomini tester
- Quantity of carbonium calculated by LECO analyser
- Analyses of the oils for hardening by means of Quench-O-Meterr
- Examination to the Magnetic Flux Tester
- Examination with Eddy current.
